A Usable Past:
Teaching & Research
I taught Composition and Rhetoric courses for 10 years. These included: first-year writing seminars, introduction to rhetoric and composition, honors first-year sections, Business Writing, and Technical Writing.
My courses invited students to question how embodied experience shaped individual and collective identity. I selected readings, fostered discussions and developed writing assignments with the aim of helping my students develop their own awareness of their positionality (and privilege) vis-à-vis gender, race, class, and disability.
My scholarship of teaching was focused on access and equity, supported by an Open Access Materials Grant at the University of Delaware and participation as a Fellow at the 2023 MLA Institute for Reading and Writing Pedagogy at Access Oriented Institutions.
